Wedding Hair

I said I would put in some pictures of my hair from the wedding, But before you see the pictures, I'm going to write, step-by-step how to do it. I realize that this may not be the way for everyone to learn how to do this updo, but hopefully for those of you who learn by reading instead of demonstrations, this can help you!

First things first, second day hair works best, however you can use freshly washed hair. Spray a heat protectorate all through your hair. We are using heat on your hair and we don't want to damage your hair more, so even if you think this is a silly step, do it anyways! Next, we are using about a 3/4 of an inch curling iron. Yes I said it, a curling iron, none of that curling wand crap we have today. We are using your standard curling iron, which every girl in the entire world should learn to use. Don't get me wrong, I love my curling wand, but a good ole' curling iron just gives you a different look.

After the curling iron is hot, split your hair into sections if you have a lot of hair like me. Use about 1inch of less of a width to curl each time. Start about halfway down the shaft and curl away from you face. (With your hair in the clasp) then let go of the hair, and do the same thing starting from the very bottom of your hair and curl all the way up to the root, away from your face. Do this all over your hair, adding hair spray as needed. If you have fringe, do the same thing but only curl from the ends to halfway up the shaft. This takes me about 15 minutes to do.

I know what you're thinking once this is finished but do not do it! Do not shake out/brush out the curls. You are pinning the hair up, we want messy curls around the top, not that sexy shaken out look. I know you probably look ridiculous right now, and that's okay, I looked like that too.

Now deciding which parts to bobby pin back are the hardest. If you have a side part, start with the side that has less hair. Let a couple curls frame your face. (keep more out than you would usually think to because you can always pin back more, it's harder to unpin and repin things) Starting behind your ear, take a chunk of hair, and pin it in the middle. You're going to need quite a few pins to make sure this stays properly.  Your hair should now look as though it is swept to one side, with a few pieces framing the opposite side of your face. Next, do the side with more hair. If you have fringe, or a few extra pieces you want out, keep them out. Pin this side of the hair only about half way to the first pin. You want the illusion of a large, full pony tail. Pin back your fringe, or leave it out if you like. Mine was half pinned, half out really.

Finally add TONS of hair spray, make sure your bobby pins are secure, and that your hair does not feel loose in any section. I was ready to go at like 11:00am and my hair stayed perfect until I took it out the next morning. There were a couple hair spray touches before the wedding, and maybe an extra bobby pin or two added in after changing into my bridesmaid dress, but other than that nothing. It lasted through the pictures, the wedding, more pictures, eating, and dancing. Most of it was all outside too, so you can imagine how well this hair style held up.

Now here are some pictures of the front, the side and the back, all taken at different times throughout the night. The back, and the side picture is taken right before I went to sleep, so the curls were starting to loosen up, but not too much.

Hopefully, this helped you out on if you needed some sort of prom, wedding or special occasion hair style. Maybe you can use this hairstyle for something! Any questions? Just Ask! I am happy to help!

Okay well obviously, I'm unable to do anything with my life but school and work. I haven't been on here in over a month. Terrible, I know... However by the time November starts... you will see a hair growth post. I need to measure my hair since the 1st time I measured it (in September). In the meantime, here is a quick little update on my hair.

Let's be real here... my hair still feels like a fried mess, but it isn't as bad as it used to be. I've been trimming my bangs every so often so while they are growing relatively long, hopefully the bleach will soon be cut away. As for the rest of my hair.... that's going to take a freakishly long time. I use heat on it maybe twice a week depending on what the week looks like. Usually, I spend literally no time getting ready in the morning on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday because for some reason I just can't wake up in time. I legit wake up at 8:30 those mornings, eat breakfast, and walk to class. 90% of the time in the clothes I slept in. Tuesday's and Thursday's (depending on the weather) I'll add some waves to my hair. but recently, my hair is constantly in some form of an up do. That's the absolute worst thing about being a server... I cannot wear my hair down unless it is above my shoulders. *eye roll* Yeah yeah, I know it's sanitary and such but I am a girl who loves her hair and wants to wear it down and proud.

Anyways, this coming weekend I will be in a wedding so Friday and Saturday I will have to use a decent amount of heat on it to style it appropriately. Fingers crossed that it doesn't rain... I am not wasting a day of heat on my hair for it to rain outside and my hair to turn into a frizz ball. I have been using the exact same products as before. Still taking vitamins and  deep conditioning my hair every time I wash it. It seems to have grown quite a bit, however I just wish it was way longer. I'm thinking of doing my first hair tutorial possible on Saturday? Or I'll at least take pictures of my hair on Friday and Saturday to show what I ended up doing. Now that I'm thinking about it making a hair tutorial for my first tutorial at 7:00am on a Saturday is not exactly what I have in mind here. I could always do a quick one, like a fishtail, or a french braid or something, but I feel like the best tutorials on blogs that I have seen are already out there. Anyways, here are a couple pictures of my hair when I have actually been awake enough in the mornings to do it.

So here is my hair throughout the week... or these three pictures are probably the only time out of the entire month of October that I have actually taken time to do my hair. *sigh* On a side note college is going to kill me soon. Okay so first picture is me with straight hair. I feel really odd seeing me with straight hair. I used to straighten my hair so much in middle school and high school, that once i figured out how to deal with my wavy hair, I never straighten it. Plus I think I turn into a total bitch when I have straight hair. Does that ever happen to anyone else?? Okay second picture is me with kind of tighter waves. This is really my go to look. I think in general I just look better with fuller wavy hair. And lastly, just some super loose waves. I don't normally do my hair like that but some reason I was inspired??

I really want to dye my hair.. obviously still red, but just so that I can no longer notice the part where my natural color and the previously dyed red has faded. However... I still want to see it so that I can see the progress on my hair growth... is that weird? Also, I'm not too sure how much more my hair can take chemical wise. But I think maybe it would look healthier? Or maybe I'll just add in some hot pink streaks for a bit of a change for a bit. If I don't use bleach it still comes out just as bright, but the color only lasts a couple of weeks which is perfectly find with me. I'm just feeling in need of a change. Too bad last time that back fired on me.

And to all it is goal to do many more hair updates, start on some tutorials, and definitely show some hair growth progress. So very sorry I haven't been at all helpful for like a month and a half. Which seems extremely silly since I have only ever posted like 3 times. But, I need to get into a habit of it. So here we go. Post one of many.. and the next will be Wedding/Bridesmaids/Dress Rehearsal hair.
