Prom/Special Occasion Hair

Happy Monday, beauties!

Today I really wanted to show this prom hair video that I filmed last week. I hope everyone has a super great prom and if you try this out let me know!

Also... Do you see the ridiculousness that is this thumbnail... that's unfortunate.

Prom Makeup

Hello beauties,

Prom season is here so I figured I would do a repost of a video I made last week. I did a prom makeup look that I thought might be helpful for you prom lovers. Prom is a super fun time for everyone. Lots of dancing, pictures and friends. It's a night to remember! So let's make you look perfect all freaking night long!

I didn't do foundation in this because it's such a preferential thing. This look is more of a smokey eye and pink lip.

If you try this look out for prom, special occasion, or really any time, send me a picture or a comment! I would love to see it!

Coconut Oil Wash

Hello hair beauties,

Today, I want you to take a step inside my shower with me. That sounds a bit odd, but I want you to know how I have been washing my hair recently and how awesomely it has been working. I talked a few posts back about wanting to try coconut oil because of a girl that I work with. I've been using it for a few weeks now, and I am in love with the results.

In my shower I have a huge jar of coconut oil. (if your house is really hot this may not work) Coconut oil melts at like 75 degrees F. I got my jar from Walmart for about $6 and it's going to last me quite some time. When I get into the shower I completely saturate my hair with water. I open up my jar of coconut oil and scoop out maybe a tablespoon or two with my finger. I put it between my hair and let it start to soften and melt a bit so that it can be distributed through my hair evenly. I start about halfway down my hair shaft, and massage it all the way down to the ends. With the excess oil still left on my hands, I massage that into my roots. I let this sit in my hair for probably 2-3 minutes. I rinse it out of my hair, and then I wash my hair with shampoo and conditioner as usual. If you have oily hair already, I wouldn't recommend conditioning your hair afterwards because it is already conditioned from the coconut oil. My hair being as dry as it is, can use the extra moisture.

My hair is so easy to comb through after I do this to my hair. It actually feels good.

What I want to do is a coconut oil mask, but I have actually attempted it yet. If you are feeling frisky and what to try it, here is what you do. On dry hair, take some coconut oil in your hands and let it melt. You are going to saturate your entire head until your hair looks wet with coconut oil. Put your hair in a shower cap and let it sit for 30 minutes. If you want, you can always put your hair under a blow dryer so that the heat with open up your cuticles and let more of the moisture in. Once you are finished with your 30 minutes rinse out the coconut oil, and wash your hair as usual. Again, if you have more oily hair I would recommend conditioning it as usual, but you may have to wash your hair a couple times to get all the oil out of your hair.

This is supposed to make your hair ridiculously soft, and also helps it grow. I'm thinking I might try this sometime tonight if I get the chance.

Strawberry Blonde Perfection

Hello hair lovers,

Today, I wanted to talk to you about my new hair! A while back I was interested in strawberry blonde hair, and now I have it. A week or so ago on twitter, I asked my hair stylist what she thought about it and the amount of damage it would cause my hair. She seemed very happy with my suggestion and told me it wouldn't damage it too badly.

Now, I am very carefree when it comes to my hair. I basically just tell her to do how much, and whatever it is she wants. I was looking for the dramatics, so when she said she was just going to do some highlights I was initially pretty sad. Then, when I really thought about it, I realized she's right. If I hated it, I was going to have to live with it and it could cause way more damage to my hair. Little did I know, she had something up her sleeve...

I have had blonde highlights in my hair on multiple occasions, but these are the all time best highlights I have ever received ever. There are so many highlights in my hair that it looks the perfect strawberry blonde color. I'm so grateful for how she did it because it is seriously perfect. She put a really light red toner all over my hair as well. I cannot get over the fact of how good it looks. It is the absolute perfect color for spring/summer.

So here is what it looks like. The picture on the left was taken with my bedroom light on so it has more of a yellow-ish tent to it while the picture on the right was taken in front of an open window.

I'm super happy with this and very excited to keep it up. Are any of you changing your hair for the spring/summer months? If so, what are you doing?? Send me pictures!

Is it growing yet...?

Happy Monday everyone!!

Today is the day we see if these prenatal vitamins are working/if my hair growing. As a bit of a disclaimer, with any hair vitamins, you don't usually see any results until 3 months of using. Before I actually test this, I feel like my hair hasn't grown at all.. so that makes me super super sad ): On another note, a girl I work with washes her hair with coconut oil. I have seen many good things about coconut oil and making your hair grow. Also, the girl I work with that uses it her hair used to be maybe a little bit longer than mine probably back in September, and now her hair is maybe around 5 inches longer or more. Obviously seeing her results, I immediately bought some and used it. In conjunction with prenatal vitamins, hopefully my hair will end up being long and mermaid-like. *Fingers Crossed*

Well... this is embarrassing. The last time I did this on March 1st, my boyfriend was at work so I attempted to do it myself. Guess who stinks? ME! I put on the shirt and got ready for my boyfriend to draw the next line and he said,"Who drew this line, because the line I'm about to draw is shorter than this one." So I grabbed a new shirt and sat down for him to draw it and he said,"This is a terrible way to measure your hair, what if you don't wear this shirt the same way next month, you won't get accurate results." Just so everybody knows, and mostly so that I remember, I am wearing a zebra bra, and my hair was pulled straight, which I have to wear next month when I do this May 1st. Sorry for the disappointment lovelies. However, I did still take a picture of where my hair is at on this shirt. I'm not sure how interested you are in this, but I'm showing it anyways.

If you are growing your hair out, and found something that's worked wonderfully, TELL ME. I NEED THE SECRET. I feel like my hair isn't growing one bit ):
