New Look, New Fun

Alright hair-lovers, here I am with a new layout, new name, and everything. I can never just stick to one subject because there is so much I want to talk about. I love fashion, makeup, and hair. I love my relationship with my boyfriend, and his daughter. I love home decor, and I love my job. I want to write about absolutely everything. Do you know what I mean? I want to give my advice on toddlers, clothing, relationships, makeup, hair. I need to do it all. If you don't like that, I'm sorry. We all know I can't just sit around talking about hair all the time. I get too distracted, and once  I find a hair look I don't change it for a long long time.

Speaking of hair; starting this week, I am attempting to go heat-less. I feel like I have said this before. But this is real. I bought a sulfate, and alcohol free shampoo and hair masque. (DermOrganics) So far I am really enjoying it. I really want good hair again.. I know, I'm repetitive but it is very true. Now, I'm looking for some great short hair, heat free ways of styling my hair. Two night ago, I tried rag curls and it was horrendous. I thought it would be fine and used large pieces to make it not as big. No... BIG NO. Biggest hair fail yet... I had an afro. Picture a small, ginger girl with a big afro. Not a good look for me, so I put it up in a pony tail. This morning I ran my hair under the faucet and dried it with a diffuser on the lowest heat setting. I realize that's still using heat but, it isn't as harsh as a curling iron or a straightener. I wasn't a fan of the look, it was just messy wavy-ish thing going on. However, Joe really enjoyed it, so I suppose that means it didn't look as bad as I thought. Right now, my hair is in one of those half up, fishtails, but the fishtail is on one side of the head. I'm thinking tonight I will put my hair in pigtails, but fishtail - pigtails, and see if they wave my hair more attractively. I used to do that with my hair when it was long, and I really liked the effect. Finger's crossed this works. I will take pictures throughout the process and post it tomorrow.

WWCD (What Would Carrie Bradshaw Do?)

This is serious stuff guys, there is this girl that I have classes with, who has GREAT Carrie hair. I wasn't a fan of her hair when it was long, just like normal hair. But she chopped it off and it looks so Carrie-esk. To the point where I almost took a picture of the back of her head because I wanted to recreated it so bad. Instead, I just attempted to recreate it...

I used my small curling wand, but instead of using small pieces of hair, I used about 2-inch sections. I still didn't curl the underneath for fear of losing length. However... TADA... it worked! Or well, semi-worked. It obviously didn't work as well as hers, but it actually ended up being a lot easier than my usual hair style. Think Serena Vanderwoodsen in Gossip Girl mixed with Carrie Bradshaw (with short hair) and that messy, woke up out of bed looking this good, waves. I just shook it out and it gave me some lovely messy waves.

Also, I was bitching about not feeling like I could go shopping... well I went... and I got two sweaters (no big deal) They were on sale and it's way too cold to walk outside without wearing a sweater pants, boots, and a winter coat. But PLEASE look at how great these shoes are. I'm not positive how I feel about the sneaker wedge trend, but I might love it. I like how some of the shoes look, but I found some black ones with silver studs... and they were so freaking perfect. I HAD to check them out and buy them... I wore them with black skinnies and they looked so good. On the plus side, they are way too comfortable for words. Felt like i was wearing real sneakers in the comfort department. I'm still trying to figure out how to style them though. I saw them with skirts and I just can't figure out how I feel about it.

How do you guys feel about this trend? Cute.. or should never be allowed?
I for some reason am jumping on this band wagon and attempting to make this trend uber adorable.

I'm thinking an updo for short hair tutorial soon, and also maybe a hair growth progress post.  Tomorrow I'm pretty sure I'll straighten my hair and check out what kind of growth is going on... Fingers crossed that it's more than a half inch, but I'm worried it hasn't grown at all.. ugh. Prenatal vitamins may be in my near hair growth future. I need to have this long mermaid hair. Erghhhhh

Rut-tastic

I know, It's been awhile...longer than awhile. But here I am.. in a rut. A hair rut, a style rut, just a rut in general. When I was younger, even just a year ago, I would basically get a high off of purchasing new clothing, hair products, or makeup. Now... I have a panic attack every time I spend money. Which is stupid because 1. I am perfect fine dropping $200 on making my freaking fireplace mantel look attractive and 2. I just told my boyfriend we could purchase a new 60'' plasma tv for his birthday. Apparently, cosmetic appearance for our house, and making things match (slowly but surely) is no big deal to me. But I can't justify me needing new clothes or hair products. Hair products... I can understand because I have a canvas shoe rack full of hair products that I need to get through, so a no-buy makes sense until I get through all of these products... but clothes... SERIOUSLY. why... I wear the same outfits each week practically.

I need some inspiration with clothing. I think I have in a way lost my style. My thinking is that because I'm about to be in such an odd place, that I can't justify the purchases. Come May, I'll be doing my internship, and then hopefully my big girl job. Purchasing cute clothing to go to class in and such, but then I'll just have to purchase more professional clothing in a few months anyways. I just can't justify it, but I legit wear some pair of jeans, a shirt, and a cardigan practically everyday. I think I need to invest in things more my style, but I never want to spend the money on it which makes no sense. I have the money, so why not save up some to spend on myself for a new outfit or two every once in awhile? I have my eye on these shoes.... but the boyfriend HATES them, and I of course am in love with them, but I can't justify spending $40 on these shoes, if I don't wear them very often. This is way too silly because I used to spend obnoxious amounts of money on clothing each week because why the hell not? And now.. I have no idea what I'm doing

Also I've been doing my hair curly everyday (washing it once in a while) and I really like that, but sometimes I want to put it up.. Maybe I should attempt to doing some hair styles where I put my hair up? I was thinking a sock bun, but using one of my boyfriend's daughter's socks (she's 3) because my hair is so short... anybody know if that will work??

Help me out of this rut... going to target hopefully later to check things out... fingers crossed I feel good enough to get something new and attractive.

No more washing...?

Alright ladies and gents, I know that it is possible to completely stop washing your hair, but I have never tried it to a legit extent. The longest I have ever gone without washing my hair is 2 weeks. I think I'm going to start doing this, however, I'm going to only condition my hair. My hair, as you should know by now, is extremely dry. I keep reading that it is possible, for girls with dry hair to completely stop washing their hair. I think I am going to try this out, and see what happens. I haven't used anything on my hair since like Saturday I believe, so today, I am going to only condition my hair. I know you can do this, and that they have products like WEN that are based on this concept. However, I have tried WEN and I didn't enjoy the texture it gave me. So today I am going to give you a peak into how I style my hair today. (going to attempt a blow out) And keep you updated on how often I have to condition my hair, and if I give in and actually wash it. Wish me Luck!

Wet Hair....

                                                                     What I used....
                                                                           Layer 1
                                                                            Layer 2
                                                                      Almost Done....

And TWIST! I added a twist because I felt as though my hair was too poofy on the ends and not enough volume on top. My hair didn't look greasy at all but it did fall a little flat. I am going to tough this out until Friday night and then I think I'm going to see what will happen with some curly hair action. Hopefully it works a bit better?

What do you think about no longer washing my own hair? Will the products weigh it down? Or will it be okay...??
